When We are Free to Be

I said ” I want to be.. and she said you are..”

I left my role at BMS to do a few things with my life. I wanted to prioritize my family, my dreams and rescope my future. I had a plan and as plans go, things went a different way.

At BMS, I had by far the best team ever assembled. These are people I grew to love and respect and honor on a daily basis. I knew that leaving BMS would impact me emotionally and that some of the connections I made would stick with me beyond my work there.

Fundamentally, I needed to be available to my family, generate income and find a way to realize my personal and professional goals. I did three things:

1. Work with friends and my network to find opportunity that would support my goals.
2. Write a plan of action, goals, and envision the future.
3. Start taking action with immediacy.

I have sought to discover myself over the years and envisioned myself achieving my personal goal of having as many transactions as possible where I feel fulfilled and where I can see results through helping people. I believe our legacy and our purpose is tied to what we do as people. Small things matter..

So, I have said, I want to be a better person and someone that will help and serve others. I want to be something more.. Recently in a conversation with woman I haven’t seen for many years, she said “you are always a light for others, you are already who you are and what you strive to be.” I am still trying to rationalize what she said to me but it did have an impact on me and what I am thinking about right now.

What I did, Where I am and .. What’s Next

Not long after I left BMS, I started working on a project with some friends. The project turned into a small business and the small business turned into a service company. Recently, I shared on LinkedIn the company and services.

The company is called IonX which means “eye on the target”, it symbolizes a shared vision that my partner and I have to always keep people as the center / target of our work. We currently have clients in the insurance industry and deliver on a number of services.

All said, there are three services that I’d like to focus on moving forward.

1. Knowledge Management
2. Digital Workplace
3. Consulting and Advisory for IT Strategy, People and Team building (soft skills)

Beyond the focus of these specific services, I’d like to help smaller companies and non profit organizations. There is something to be said for having the ability to “adopt purpose.”

In this time, we need to come together and help each other more than ever. The mission and purpose of IonX is to help facilitate these transactions and to be a vehicle for these services.
