Wake up! Wake up! It is time for you to WAKE UP! A Jesuit priest held seminars, writing and spiritual conferences before his sudden death in 1987. Along the way someone captured his voice and wrote down what he was sharing. I recently read a book capturing his voice and today I am sharing with you why it is important now to understand what he was saying back then.
Wake up, stop clinging, see reality clearly, and discover that happiness was never something you needed to acquire.
I and ME, US and WE. What has manifested over the last 10 years starting with public politics is nothing short of exposure. History informed us about people. It told us story after story about selfishness and the extent to which human beings will go to burn down everything they build.
For all the good in the world, the kind people, the people who make sacrifice, the people who believe in the idea of good relative to humanity, the nature of what we are still holds the world hostage.
War, famine, disease, poison, existential threats, resource allocation and disharmony. These are the results of selfish people. In business, we can see this in our lives on a daily basis. Decisions people make for themselves without understand or caring about the consequences for others. Even if a person could prove that something is wrong and detrimental to a company or to a lot of people, they (the person) often will ignore the signal and do what they want regardless. Even if it means hurting themselves in the process.
There are laws against suicide. Are there laws against sociological suicide that are enforceable?
Death and destruction are commanded and we the meek and weak do what we are told to do. If we can’t beat them, we leave or we bow. No different than other animals in the kingdom of nature. Complaints are for losers and complaining gets us nowhere.
But what if we choose to leave? What if we choose to run away? What if we choose to do nothing? What does this get us?
I get to stay at my job that I need because I have to pay the bills, and my husband and my wife and my kids and my… I have to because you don’t understand. I have to because I bought a house I couldn’t afford and a car, I had to have and my husband and my kids and my wife.
Meanwhile, while you suffer personally in your box, your cage, your trap, men and women are changing the ground under your feet. Polluting your food, covering your sky, taking more than half of what you make. Strapped to a chair and a desk commanded by idiot senior leaders that focus only on themselves.
To what end? To the end of what? The American people have proven what they are willing to do and what they are willing to give up. It is easy to be brainwashed since we have no free will. We have no freedom in reality other than the boundaries of our own mind. Even Stephen Hawking could be less bound than many of us.
You don’t think it is madness?
I used to think that it was “them” you know, the other people, not people in our lives. You know the same way that you have a friend that isn’t like what you think about their culture, family etc. The truth is that you and me, we are mad like the rest. We are living in madness and chaos. We read about it in our history books, we didn’t see it coming. The bible tells us, the scriptures tell us, the daily news tells us we are living in madness.
My friends overseas across the world, I have so many people that I love in different countries and places, you are living in madness as well. At one time, the place where you stand and live was a place that someone dreamt of leaving.
Oh, the beauty of the land, the grass, the skies, the mountains, the seas, we can appreciate the small town, the kind people, the cafe, small markets, and quiet life.
It is all temporary, a short reprieve, a moment in time, enjoy it today to the fullest as it may be your last day. How do you know? How do I know?
Madness!
You see madness is normal and we know this is true but because we are mad, we ignore it too! Look at Julie, she is healthy and so fit! She gets up every morning and runs three to five miles, she eats measured food, she watches everything she eats, she has a band on her wrist, watches all her numbers. She doesn’t drink or smoke, she is a regular beauty, uses clean products and no animals were harmed. What happened to Julie? She now has cancer! Why? Well, she lived in the city and ran everyday alongside the highway and.. MADNESS.
We do this every day, we make choices and many of the things we do, we know we are doing. It makes sense to us. Politicians make promises and commitments they don’t keep but we repeat the lie we are told, we come to believe it and then we vote them back in and we support them. Madness.
Religion, I wonder where we could look in our history to find a concept more problematic than religion. Words just words, words, just words, words.. Words that inspire people to believe something. Words that inspire people to have faith. Words that inspire people to take action.
How long have you been reading my blog? Have you read from the beginning? If not, let me share, when I was child and growing up as a young person, being a Jew was a costly label. My label, my tag, I still carry it and you think I want to celebrate the New Year? You think I have something to do with this religion? Most if not all of you would assume wrongly that I do.
It is true that I have taken from it what I want to take, the ideas that I enjoyed but I do not believe in the religion. I do not believe in your religion either.
We know the same things about this world. We are here and we don’t know how we came to be. There must be something that made us because this is the only way we could have come to be. Logical? It doesn’t occur naturally that we aren’t meant to know.
Madness. Instead, we read words written by mostly men in historical text that we hold up to each other and say is true. It is “holy” because I feel it.
I suppose it is holy when you masturbate as well, because you don’t need drugs to feel it.
That is a religion too, it is the religion of “do what I want as long as I can” and you know, the people who walk into your kitchen and open the door, drink your milk and spit it out in your face, as you stand there is shock. Well, they did it. They DID IT. Madness.
They take from you every day. The people that must have guns to protect themselves but accidently kill their children. The people who need drugs to find a way to live and find themselves zombies on the streets, sleep standing, while their babies starve. Madness.
You are here and I am here, it is true. In our little bubble, we may not live it every day but we are part of it. Madness.
Are you watching the news? Turn it off because you can’t stand it? Only to find out the news is watching you. The television in your house is listening to you. You do know you have no right to privacy?
Did the great and powerful founding fathers miss something? Nah, they lived in madness too. Dream of another day and write the architecture of the future for men and women to hold up in a book, like a bible. It is the gospel and it is what we must follow because it was written by a founding father, some of these folks that were part of writing the constitution would be considered children today. Now my friends, we don’t listen to children do we?
What if you didn’t know it was a child? What if you didn’t see her or him? Oh, then you’ve been catfished by a founding father! Madness.
You must be mad? Am I angry? Maybe, he is losing his shit? Well, let me help you with this..
We are in constant war. We have been in some war around the world before I was born and it never ended.
We are living in a time where anyone can say anything and the truth about anything is subjective.
We don’t learn. We haven’t learned.
We have men running countries that we would not allow to drive right now due to their age and mental status.
Think about that. We have men today that we would say “pops, time to take the keys” but these same men are popping blue chew and fucking the whole world. For them, the end is near, legacy is everything and you and me are nothing.
We have selfish people in every walk of life now empowered to show and behave in any way they want. There are no rules if you control the game.
Am I mad? Am I upset?
There is nothing to argue about, it isn’t an argument, it is awareness.
AI companies are saying, “it is too dangerous to continue doing what we are doing, please someone stop us from making things”
Madness you say?
Could you imagine this .. RJ Reynolds sends a lobbyist to DC and tells Congress and the Senate before the committees, “Cigarettes are so bad, they are guaranteed to kill without question, please stop us and pick up your pack of money on the way out”
They admitted cigarettes were harmful at some point, but they didn’t beg for someone to stop them from making them.
Thomas Midgley Jr. poisoned the world, he made everyone including you and me DUMBER = Madness
I don’t need to tell you what is going on in the states right now but does anyone in the world think they are immune?
People make decisions on what they want and how they feel, their needs. The boundaries are shredded.
Even if the rules meant anything some time, they mean nothing now.
Every aspect of our being is beyond being tested, it was tested and we failed to become better, we are exceedingly successful in madness.
Anthony De Mello said to “WAKE UP” in 1987, he told us then that we are sleeping and that we have to look long and hard at what is real and what is a dream.
We are living the dream but your dream may be my nightmare and for the most part as long as this isn’t the other way around, you may not care.
For if I am to suffer, it isn’t you and if you are to suffer it isn’t me so what of our concern? We can leave this to a higher power.
