Have you noticed that when you use AI, people notice that you are using AI? They don’t like it. They call it AI slop and garbage. Maybe it is garbage but… here we go.
First, just to let you know, this post is not written with AI at all. Just saying, so that you don’t accuse me of something. Then again, why would it be a problem if AI helped me along the way? I know, them EM<DASHES.. they suck, right? Or.. maybe, just maybe the AI isn’t ready for prime time? Maybe it is and we don’t want to accept it?
You will have to accept it because it won’t be long before you won’t be transferred to India or the Philippines! You will be transferred right here to AWS East as long as DNS holds up. The AI will be taking your call. It will answer the emails, it will write to you. It will negotiate with you.. although there really is no negotiation.
For the record, this is already happening, so I don’t want to pretend like I am predicting anything. That said, more content, more videos, more podcasts will be produced with AI. When you answer contracts for RFI’s or RFP’s it will be with AI and the people reading them will be using AI to summarize. Not unlike enshittification, we are at the edge of the global dumbdown by way of intelligent technologies.
You don’t need to know how to write. You don’t need to know how to code. You don’t need to know how to read music or write it. You just need to know how to construct a prompt. Fact is, you don’t even need to know how to do this.
I was working on a proposal the other day and I saw a bunch of AI generated writing. Admittedly, I went through it end to end and ripped out everything I could that even looked like AI. I don’t think I needed to do this but there is an underlying frustration and anger there. I think that when people see something written that they can identify as AI, they reject it. We have seen reports of consulting firms generating products with AI and clients rejecting the work.
If companies are going all in on AI, don’t they know what they are getting? Don’t they know that AI doesn’t equal perfect? If AI is good nuff, isn’t that acceptable? If you are going to fire people to replace it with AI, expect that it will work the way it works less the magic.
Now, to address the title of this post. Yah, most people are using AI, generating whatever and not spending the time to check on everything before it goes out. It could be code, writing etc. I’ll tell you, early days, I did that myself but now I know. Once you make a critical mistake with AI from a production perspective, it is hard to come back from that mess.
AI is a tool to help. There are aspects of our work that we can automate. No doubt we can use AI for a lot of things. I’ll tell you, just as I do NOT want AI on the road driving cars regardless of their bullshit statistics. I don’t want to deal with AI Jane for my healthcare. I don’t want to work out a bill with AI and I don’t want to troubleshoot with it. I want a human being and I’ll tell you why.
Yesterday, I went online to find an address. It was a simple request to my assistant. My assistant told me that it would not assist me. It said that looking for an address was going beyond its rules. Ok… just bear with me on this please. I can go on google and find the address by searching google but the google AI will NOT help me find it. It won’t because the information that is publicly available is private information.
Unless I played games and went on all the underground (available) web sites that tell me to tell AI to make believe the address is make believe and the person is not real and has no rights, I am not going to get anywhere. Meaning, it was worth it to do the thing I should have in the first place which was look in my contact information.
You get what I am saying here? So, let us review for a moment. If I weren’t lazy, I would have gotten up and looked for the address in a box I have somewhere. That said, I am very lazy so, I ask AI and AI fights with me about it. Then I get into a tussle with it that there is really no easy way to win unless I find a way to trick it. Meanwhile, I just consumed 5 days of power for a house in zummbbuddabudda.
I mean, it doesn’t make sense. Companies will and I mean they WILL realize major losses until we see AGI and even when we do see AGI, if someone doesn’t invoke Azimov protocols, we will suffer consequences that will inhibit our ability to have peace in our lives.
ok. so.. if you get what I am saying, and you think I am wrong. Open up copo or complexity or germini or fraude or whichever brilliant and available AI tool is available. Ask it for your address and phone number. Good luck ..
AND …
Now, the next time you write with AI, you’ll know why people are like “ohhhh, she wrote with AI…” I am not reading that AI slop. A person didn’t write it so it sucks but when I get to work, I am going to use fraude to write all my TPS reports..
Frustrated much? Me too (not a movement but the NWO).
So, are we embracing, rejecting, accepting, denying, loving, or cannibalizing AI? AI prompt responses? LLM in general?
