Last week, a friend of mine sent me a Reddit link to a LinkedIn Url hacking trick for Linkedin.
I decided to pull together a few LI hacks as part of the Work in Finding Work series. I want you to know that you are not alone in this. It feels like you are but you are not alone.
There’s a clever trick to uncover job listings that are less than 24 hours old, or even within the last hour, by modifying the LinkedIn URL. This technique can significantly enhance your job search efficiency and help you stay ahead of the competition.
Step-by-Step Guide to Modifying LinkedIn URLs
- Perform Your Job Search on LinkedIn:
Start by conducting a job search on LinkedIn using your preferred criteria, such as job title, location, and industry. - Adjust the Time Filter:
Change the “Time posted” filter to “Past 24 hours.” This step is crucial because it modifies the URL, allowing you to make further adjustments. - Modify the URL:
Look for the part of the URL that containsf_TPR=r86400. The number86400represents the number of seconds in a day (24 hours). To find jobs posted within a specific time frame, you can replace this number with the corresponding number of seconds:- Last Hour:
r3600 - Last 24 Hours:
r86400(default for this filter) - Last Week:
r604800 - Last Month:
r2592000

Understanding LinkedIn URL Components
Here’s a breakdown of what each part of the URL does:
| Parameter | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| currentJobId | Specifies a job currently being viewed. Changing or removing this does not affect search results. | currentJobId=4184090151 |
| distance | Controls the job search radius in miles. | distance=25 (change to distance=50 for a 50-mile radius) |
| f_TPR | Filters job postings by recency. Common values include r3600 (last hour), r86400 (last 24 hours), r604800 (last week), and r2592000 (last month). | f_TPR=r3600 |
| geoId | Specifies the geographic location. You need the geoId for the desired location. | geoId=103644278 |
| keywords | Determines the job title or keywords being searched. Use %20 to represent spaces. | keywords=senior%20operations%20manager |
| location | Defines the search location. | location=United%20States (change to location=Florida for Florida) |
| origin | Indicates that the search is being filtered from the job search page. This can be ignored. | origin=JOB_SEARCH_PAGE_JOB_FILTER |
| sortBy | Sorts results by relevance (R) or date posted (DD). | sortBy=R (change to sortBy=DD for date posted) |
By mastering this URL modification technique, you can streamline your job search on LinkedIn, ensuring that you’re always among the first to see new job listings. Whether you’re looking for opportunities within the last hour or the last week, this hack can give you a significant edge in the competitive job market. Resume Builder Hack
LinkedIn has a “Build A Resume Feature”. You must use the direct link here to access the feature. LinkedIn will give you keyword insights once you enter your target job title. Don’t overlook this feature. Please click to test it out for yourself.
The “I’m Interested” Button
Here’s a little-known LinkedIn hack that can give your job search a serious boost. When you’re scoping out companies on LinkedIn, don’t just hit the follow button. Instead, head over to their “About” tab and click “I’m Interested.” This sends a private signal to their recruiters, letting them know you’re interested in their company. It’s like a secret handshake that says, “Hey, I’m here, and I’m ready to work for you!” Some folks have seen their recruiter outreach go from zero to hero in just 24 hours after using this feature. So, if you’re looking to get noticed, this is your ticket to the front of the line.
Networking Enhancements
Now, let’s talk about networking. LinkedIn isn’t just about posting your resume; it’s about making connections. Here are two hacks to help you do just that:
LinkedIn Groups Messaging Hack
You don’t need LinkedIn Premium to reach out to people you’re not connected with. If you’re both in the same LinkedIn group, you’ve got a golden ticket to message them directly. Just scroll down to the “Groups” section on their profile, find a group you’re both in, join it, and then message them from the group member list. It’s like having a secret back door to their inbox. This hack can open up new networking opportunities without the need for a premium subscription.
People Tab Navigation
Ever wonder how to find people who can help you get your foot in the door at your dream company? Here’s a trick: Use the ‘People’ tab on company or college pages. For instance, if you’re an alum, visit your college’s LinkedIn page, search for the company you’re interested in, and voila! You’ll see a list of alumni working there. These are your potential referral connections. It’s like having a built-in network of insiders ready to help you navigate the job market.
LinkedIn is more than just a job board; it’s a networking powerhouse. Use these hacks wisely, and you’ll be well on your way to unlocking hidden opportunities and making meaningful connections. Keep innovating, keep networking, and keep pushing forward!
Lets gooooooo! Keep going.. don’t stop.. Yes.. you!!!
