We have for sure lost it.
The world is literally gone crazy, and I promise to keep it short but I’m telling you we are in known chartered territory.
Artificial Intelligence is not the main current issue. The technology is advancing and yes, we have challenges to overcome but the real and primary issue we are facing is a systemic shift of power without accountability and consequences. AI is secondary and contributes to the situation at hand.
In addition to the current issues with society, we have a massive amount of information and content being generated. All of this is tied together.
Ask for a glass of water and get thrown into a swimming pool. Drowning in data, knowledge, and information creates overload. This overload forces us to live in abstraction.
The net result is that people don’t read. Everything is getting summarized. The details don’t matter as much.
That said, many people are writing MORE. Sure, the content is partially generated or wholly generated by AI but “we the people” are simply exacerbating the damage done to ourselves.
The people in positions of great power have pushed the boulder forward. The system tests have proven the American public, and the world can be stunned into submission.
The body of the people are acting like the deer being hit by bright lights. Stunned, frozen and shocked. We don’t need to dig beyond the past 60-70 years to see how this works. Opening a book or two will tell the story over and over again.
The combination of bad behavior by people in powerful positions, the artificial intelligence self-harm and self-inflicted stupification of the masses leads us in the direction of great change.
When outrage is common coffee talk, we have a problem. So many of us are looking for answers. We are asking “where are our representatives”? You know what the representatives are saying? They say “you didn’t vote us into a majority so…”
The truth is more complicated and frankly painful. The two-party system is really a one-party shenanigan. The people involved in bad behavior shift in the night from red to blue and blue to red as long as they benefit. You understand that we are either on the island or not on it. Those who are on the island are different from the rest. They made it and YOU did not. Meaning YOU if you don’t get the benefit and the protection of the connections.
Last night, as I watched the Olympics, I asked why Lindsey Vonn would put herself in this dangerous situation given her age and current damage.
Now, I have mentioned to you in previous posts that standing and holding a fist shaking it at the moon won’t make anything happen. There was no way I could have or would have persuaded Lindsey to “stay off the slopes.”
Sure, wish I could have stopped her. Then again, what right did I have to thwart her Olympic dreams? I suppose the same rights as someone telling me to wear a seatbelt for my own safety. Frankly a lot of things don’t seem to make sense but then again…….
Alright, so, we can do something, and the something we can do can make a difference. What we can do in the realm of reality is hard to write out. If you think about it, one post could go viral and have a major impact on us. One event can change everything.
At the same time, we are absolutely caught in an avalanche of sorts. It feels like we have little to know input or control over what is happening. I think for most of us, we don’t. As I have written about this a few times, some people have responded with questions about my intention or potential lean on negativity.
To this, I’ll be clear. We should do what we can do and what we can do is a lot. What we can do is act local and think global in our actions. We can help our neighbors and if desired, we can go out and march in support of our beliefs. We can seek to educate each other (if we can listen.)
What we should realize is that eventually as in all of human history disaster comes to an end and people pick up the pieces and tell a story about their time. From the time that man could tell a story, it was filled with tragedy, disaster, hope and overcoming the odds. Today is no different even if everything is destroyed, there will be someone who survives, and they will tell the story of the multibillionaire who saw it all coming to an end who with G-d’s will and direction built a bunker on an island he acquired to save his family and the seeds of the next human generation.
You see, we have seen all of this before and the thing about human beings is, we are sorta forgetful. So, let us all enjoy our football game that causes brain damage and fight about who is going to play the half time show while people around the world suffer and so on and so on.. because life for some goes on.
This wasn’t written by AI but the thing is most people are so distracted, they won’t get this part of the post. If you did.. you have been chosen to SAVE THE WORLD!

You’re right that panic and despair aren’t useful & freezing like the deer in headlights is the worst possible response. And you’re right that local action, community & paying attention matter. But your reassurance that “eventually disaster comes to an end and people pick up the pieces” sounds like it assumes continuity that isn’t guaranteed (I read it a few times to see if I got that right but it’s possible I didn’t…) The Romans picking through rubble in 476 AD weren’t “picking up the pieces” they were entering a fundamentally different and diminished world that lasted generations.
You’re forcing me to answer the question “what do you do when you can’t find your way out” and the reality is that most individuals in collapsing or captured systems didn’t find their way out. They endured. Some adapted. Many suffered. The ones who made a difference were usually part of organized movements that reached critical mass and those movements often took decades and required enormous personal sacrifice from people who didn’t live to see the results. That’s not a satisfying answer. But it’s the truthful one. And it points to the one thing that might matter: connection isn’t just a nice idea, it’s the only mechanism that has ever worked. Not connection as in “be nice to your neighbor,” but connection as in organized, sustained, strategic collective action with people who share a clear-eyed view of the problem. The reason most of society can’t find the exit is that they’re each looking for it alone. The exit, to the extent one exists, is a door that takes many hands to open. And right now, most people are too busy doom scrolling to find each other.

A big contributing factor to this mess is a practice in the US that’s rare in most other democracies. In the US, the system actively promotes and solicits contributions from people and organizations who aren’t directly represented by the candidates. It’s commonplace for someone in one constituency to beg for money from people in other districts or states. That creates an environment where the people who are supposed to be represented are taking a backseat to external contributors and special interests. The whole idea of a representative democracy is to *represent* the interests of your constituents. How is that possible when the bulk of the funding is coming from party coffers and externals.
If we cut off the money from people who didn’t live or work in the candidates’ districts, we’d see a huge shift in focus and representation virtually overnight. You’d also see people take much more of an interest and holding their representatives accountable and that would flow up to accountability at the senate, congressional and cabinet levels. The meta-politics of social media and party would have a lot less influence without the institutional money and fundraising washing out the influence of people who are supposed to be represented.
